Ropes, scrambling, climbing, and more. Come explore the beauty and wonder that are the sandstone slot canyons of the Zion National Park area.

The back country of Zion National Park is home to Slot Canyons unlike any other in the world. This non-technical hiking tour takes you on an off-road UTV adventure to the mouth of Crimson Canyon to hike through and explore with your guide. Within the narrow canyon walls you will find ancient Native American writings and learn about those who inhabited these lands before us. This hike combines 2 classic slot canyons by hiking the entire loop. Hike up to the lower fork of Red Cave, entering the slot near the mouth and then hiking cross country, dropping into the upper fork of Red Cave and exiting at the upper fork cave entrance. The directions below explore each fork of Red Cave separately. Many of Zion's canyons are deep, long and have a permanent stream flowing through, but the national park also contains plenty of short, narrow slots, and the easiest reached is undoubtedly Keyhole Canyon, the lower end of which is just 300 feet from UT 9, on the east side of the park half way between the entrance station and the Zion-Mt Carmel Tunnel. The upper end of the slot canyon may be entered by walking down the sandy banks at the far side of a small carpark just before the east entrance of the Zion-Mt Carmel tunnel, and opposite the start of the popular Canyon Overlook Trail. The land east of Zion National Park and the Kolob Terrace is generally lower and the mountains less sheer, but the cliffs and mesas are made of the same Navajo sandstone - white at higher elevations and red lower down - and these too contain interesting slot canyons, though not as deep as the more well known gorges to the west, and without streams running through.

Zion National Park is home to the most famous of all the slot canyons, the Zion Narrows. Inside Zion National Park there is also the Subway, Echo Canyon, Orderville Canyon and Pine Creek. The Riverside Walk is the easiest hike in Zion National Park and it leads to the trailhead for the Zion Narrows. Zion National Park Vacation: Canyon Country
